Steamed Mahi Mahi in Cabbage

Recipe For two

Steamed Mahi Mahi in Cabbage
Ingredients:
  • 4 3oz pieces of skinless mahi mahi
  • 2-3 Tbsp coconut oil for the fish and the wrapping
  • 3 Tbsp Aloha Spice Kauai Aloha Coffee Rub
  • 4 Leaves of Chinese or Napa Cabbage
  • Salt
Directions:
  • Oil the fish and season with Kauai Aloha Coffee Rub, let marinate in refrigerator for one hour
  • Bring a pot of water to boil, add some salt
  • Add cabbage leaves to boiling water; cook for 30 seconds to a minute, or until just wilted
  • Remove from heat; Cool quickly by plunging leaves into ice water for 1 minute, remove from ice water, pat dry
  • Wrap the fish in cabbage leaves and brush lightly with the coconut oil.
  • Steam to doneness, approx. 10 minutes
  • Arrange on a platter with a bowl of dipping sauce.


Hot and Sweet Dipping Sauce
Ingredients:
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 4 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • Pinch of crushed saffron
  • 1 tsp chili flakes
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2 Tbsp chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 Tbsp chopped fresh mint
  • Aloha Spice Kiawe Smoked Garlic Hawaiian Sea Salt to taste
Directions:
  • Combine all ingredients in saucepan
  • Simmer 5 minutes.
  • Chill to room temperature. Serve.
